I got the pesto rice (7/10), Shakshuka (10/10), and ricotta toast w jam (10/10). The Shaq (Shakshuka) was soooo good and the bread that came with it was perfectly crispy and soft. Make sure to try it out!! I also really enjoyed the ricotta toast. The bread was soft and buttery and the jams complimented the ricotta very well. Also very pretty to look at which is a plus! The pesto rice was a bit sour but I don't think I would recommend. Overall, the atmosphere was very nice and lively for a Friday brunch/lunch. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There is also an open kitchen so you can see the cooking process as well. Parking is only street parking and beware some streets are no parking on Fridays 11am-2pm so look out for that because there are always parking police patrolling the area.

I loved my loaded Sorrel egg dish and especially the uncured bacon, avocado , and feta. The noise & table availability downgrades this place. The room temperature water and promised ice cold water, never received, didn't help. My chai wasn't hot either, but I forgot to mention that I like it very hot. Overall the food was good.

Had a perfect, quick Sunday lunch with my friend here! We went around 12pm and it wasn't too busy. We managed to secure a table straight away. The staff are incredibly friendly and I loved the relaxed vibe. The food was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly seasoned. My avocado was so smooth and paired amazingly with the dressing on the salad. Their crispy rice is also just unbeatable! My friend loved her pesto rice bowl. This is what they are most famous for and that fame is well deserved. A great easy lunch spot with options for everyone!

10/10 brunch. Their jams? Fire. I ordered their latke potato pancake with smoked trout and roe, and it was delicious. The pancake is really nice and crispy on the outside with a nice soft texture inside. Mixed with the creme fraiche and roe--dream come true. I also tried my friend's omelet and it was perfectly cooked. I actually LOVED the brioche toast with jam. It was my favorite bite of the day. I bought one of their jams to gift to a friend, so I'm hoping she really likes a little taste from LA!

I've seen photos of the ricotta toast and I've wondered if it tastes as good as it looks. And it tastes AMAZING! It's a hefty piece of brioche bread with ricotta and four different types of their jams. I will be dreaming of this toast. I also got the Laura Palmer to drink. It's a mix of delicious black tea with grapefruit juice- it's like an Arnold Palmer but better in my opinion. It's a small space but it's cozy and service was super friendly.

The good: The staff were really quick and attentive! The menu offered so many great options with wonderful ingredients like sprouts and sweet potato. I got a mulberry donut with a donut hole inside and it was yeasty and delicious. I'm definitely team raised yeast donuts versus cake donuts. They also have other pastries and a cake of the day (wasn't sure what if was but it looked divine). They have outdoor seating on the side that's covered and private while the right exterior also has outdoor seating near the sidewalk. The inside has a communal table and some higher seating by the wall. I had the macro bowl which didn't seem like much at first but it was super filling. I ended up not finishing the rice. It had brown rice, koji sweet potato, shredded carrot & beet, sunflower sprouts, pumpkin & hemp medley, marinated kale, lemon wedge, and ginger carrot vinaigrette that was acidic and not too sweet. The rice was soft and fluffy. The bad: There's only street parking. The interior space is small. The interesting: They have a separate lunch menu and an all day menu as well. They offer catering.

Counter service, minimal indoor seating, waited quite awhile for my meal (it was a busy lunch), the toast was exceptional, the bowl was good but not phenomenal. The green juice was quite tart. Pretty minimalist environment. I would not drive out of my way for it.

Sqirl always hits the spot for me. It's the pinacle of LA food, and I love returning and trying different items. In the past I've gotten the sorrel salmon, rainbow french toast, dutch pancakes, long range chicken, cacao nib cookie. This time I got the salmon rillette toast. The sorrel salmon is one of my go to favorite. The rainbow french toast is very instagrammable but not that tasty actually. The dutch pancakes were devine but kinda too huge. The long range chicken is not something I ordinarily would have caught my attention, and actually my friend is the one who ordered it. Well I'm glad she did and let me try some, because that's some of the best soup/porridge I've ever had, and I get it all the time. I also loooove the cacao nib cookie and crave it from time to time. This most recent visit, I was in the mood for something different and light, and the salmon rillette toast hit the spot. Drinks -- I saw they had chicory coffee which I've always wanted to try because it has no caffeine and I'm highly caffeine sensitive. The chicory flavor was very distinct, and not for me. It kinda tastes like bad chai or old coffee, which is because of the chicory, and not because they made a bad drink. I'm glad Sqirl even had it in the first place, so that I could give it a try, because I don't find it in many places. Next time I'll stick my usual matcha order. On my most recent visit, I went for lunch on a Thursday hoping it would be crowded af as usual on the weekend. But it was still pretty crowded as in all the outdoor tables were full so we sat inside. There was plenty of seating inside though. Sorrel salmon 8/10 Rainbow french toast 6/10 Long range chicken 9/10 Cacao nib cookie 8/10 Salmon rillete toast 8/10 Chicory coffee 4/10 Matcha latte 8/10

Today was my first time back at Sqirl since I'd last been more than five years ago. I still remembered the crispy rice salad.... We all saw the bucket of jam, but I was happy to overlook it. We came early on a Monday and it was nice to see it was busy. I got an iced latte, crispy disco (crispy rice salad with pork sausage, avocado, and a fried egg...... a dream), and the ricotta toast with 4 jams. The crispy rice salad was just as good as I remember. Truly, it combines all my favorite things into one. Herby, crunchy, fresh, seemingly "healthy" with a runny egg. It's a perfect dish. The ricotta toast is amazing, I probably would get it just with the strawberry jam next time. My only note is that the brioche tasted about a day old, I wish it would have been same day fresh. The service was really friendly, the wait wasn't long, and we got a nice table for two on their covered patio. They even had straws that weren't made of paper. Definitely recommend coming early on a weekday to avoid the crowd!

Every so often one comes across a dish that manages to excite every single taste bud. This creme brulee french toast was one of those dishes for me. To me, it's one of those rare 10/10 breakfast desserts that was perfect in taste, texture, and temperature. It starts of with a thicc slice of brioche bread, soaked overnight in custard, toasted to perfection, and brulee'd for a perfect sugar crystal glaze on top. Then it is complimented by a housemade marscapone and, in this case, fig jam (but I've heard that can change), creating the perfect bite. Personally I didn't think the syrup was necessary at this point. I know I'll be dreaming about this dish for at least a couple of months...
